Values, Vision, Voice

On behalf of the entire Preston community, I welcome you to our website! Thank you for your interest in PHS. Committed to the education of young women, Preston provides its program within a nurturing environment where every student is respected for her individual dignity and encouraged to pursue her growth as both a woman and a scholar. At the core of our mission is the practice of compassion, the charism of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion, founders and sponsors of the school.

A Preston woman learns to balance her academic education with her spiritual life, to offer her service to her family, school and community, and to participate in an extensive selection of student-run clubs and organizations that provide many opportunities for her to develop her leadership and social skills. We believe strongly that women can succeed in non-traditional careers and encourage our students to take a wide range of courses not just in the arts, but in math, sciences, and technology as well.

To that end, we are working with Engineering Tomorrow, a foundation that seeks to introduce engineering principles and potential career opportunities to young women and other groups who are seriously underrepresented in STEM fields, by hosting their pre-engineering programs in a new, fully-equipped laboratory in our main building.

Returning alumnae point to their success at their chosen colleges and in their careers as testimony to the quality of the preparation their Preston education provides them. They also cherish the relationships with teachers and classmates developed during their years at Preston and continue to support their alma mater in a variety of ways.

I hope you enjoy your visit to our website. You will find much information about our school on these pages. Be sure to check out the information on our excellent academic and co-curricular programs. And please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about our school.
