Compassion Matters... Pass It On! 11-16-18

November 16, 2018
By Compassion Panther

After six weeks of bringing in food, we have finally reached the end of the Thanksgiving Food Drive!!  The Preston Community just raised 11,077 lbs of food.  Throughout the next week, this food will be picked up by 4 different food pantries - Fishes & Loaves Divine Compassion Pantry in Dover Plains, and Mercy Center, OLA Pantry, and St. Raymond's Pantry all in the Bronx. Likewise, food collected is being used to make packages - for families of Preston Center of Compassion's Big Sister-Litter Sisters (through Compassion Connection), for Lamp Ministries (Italian Club), and for Santa Maria Parish (Spanish Club.)

The top 4 highest donating homerooms were Senior 2- Señora Varela, Senior 3- Ms. Wicks, Senior 1- Ms. Connolly, and Junior 4- Ms. Farrell.   Thank you so much to everyone who played a role in making our Thanksgiving Food Drive a success! This all could not have been possible without the help of everyone who donated food or money, and offered their time to help organize and weigh the food.  Ms. Farrell deserves a special shout out.  Since she started teaching at Preston, her homeroom consistently places in the top 4!

And a special thank you to Alumnae Gabriela Johns (Class of 2018), Michelle Luchetti (Class of 2008), and Caroline Ozdemir (Class of 2014) for dropping off food to support our efforts!
