Online Book-Ordering

banner

At Preston we ask you to purchase books (not supplied by New York State) at our online bookstore with the company EFollett.

The following are answers to some basic questions you may have about the website.

How should I go about ordering my books?

Beginning July 15th you may purchase books for the upcoming school year at www.prestonhs.bkstr.com.

Our online bookstore is organized to mirror our course names and numbers.  The Dean of Studies will provide you with your Course Verification List (with course numbers) for the upcoming school year.  With this list in hand, you’ll be able to find the books required for your classes.

How will my books be delivered to me?

EFollett sends purchased books directly to your home through Federal Express.  Please have your books shipped to an address where someone will be home during daytime hours to sign for them.

Items labeled as fees will not be shipped to you.  If, for example, you paid a “Graphing Calculator Fee” on Varsity’s website, at a designated time on the first days of school, you may pick up a “Supplies Package” with your name on it, that will include such items.  Another example, an “Art fee,” pays for materials distributed and used in Art class.

Which items am I required to buy

  • Any book or fee that is listed underneath the Required Material(s) heading must be purchased.
  • Books listed underneath the Recommended Material(s) heading are optional and you are not obligated to purchase them.  Please note that the website automaticallydefaults to chooseto purchase recommended items.  If you do not wish to purchase a recommended item, simply click on the checkmark next to it to “de-select” it.
  • EFollett provides a number of used books at a discounted price.  Please note that the website automaticallydefaults to choose to purchase used items (if available). If you wish to purchase a new book instead, simply click on the “new” book condition.
  • EFollett offers a rental program for certain books.  If you like, you may rent such books for the course of the school year instead of purchasing them. (At the end of the school year you will be obligated to send the rented book back to EFollett.)

What is the $125 “Mandatory Instructional & Printing Fee for all Classes” that is listed as Required in my Phys. Ed. Class?

The “Mandatory Instructional Fee” is a $100 average of all the money spent throughout the year in all of your classes for photocopied handouts, supplies in labs, materials for activities, etc…

The “Printing Fee” is a $25 printing account that will enable you to print from all school computers.

Every student MUST pay this “Mandatory Instruction & Printing Fee.”

(Since every student at Preston takes Physical Education, the “Mandatory Instructional and Printing Fee” was placed in your Phys. Ed. required book/fee list.)

Do I have to purchase my books through EFollett or can I purchase them elsewhere?

We ask that you purchase your school books through this website.  Publishers regularly update many of these books to include most recent regents exams.  EFollett is in constant contact with Preston, with regard to the precise editions of books Preston’s teachers require in their classes.  If you purchase your books through this website, you’re purchasing the correct books!
